Raazi

A research encyclopedia that grows with your sources — and a newsroom that watches your beat.

Feed it books, papers, articles and recordings, or point it at the feeds you follow. It reads each one once, finds every person, organisation, event and place, and writes an entry for each, with every sentence traceable to a quote at a page number.

A North African historian and judge whose Muqaddimah set out a science of society.

Ibn Khaldun was born in Tunis in 732 AH1, into a family that had come from Seville2. He served the courts of Fez, Granada and Cairo, and wrote the Muqaddimah as the opening of his universal history34. In Cairo he sat as a Maliki judge5.

What it does

  1. 01

    Every sentence sourced

Click a citation and the passage appears as it was written in the source. A claim the evidence doesn't support is flagged.

  2. 02

    Entries that revise themselves

Add a source next month and the entries it touches are rewritten. Each revision records what changed.

  3. 03

    Disagreements kept in view

When two sources conflict, both accounts stay, each with its own evidence.

  4. 04

    A morning brief

What came in on your subjects since yesterday, which outlets carried it and where they disagree. Every line opens the passage it rests on.

  5. 05

    A writing desk

Write with references and citations that survive being moved, and export right-to-left Arabic cleanly.

  6. 06

    Search by meaning

Find the passage you remember, not just the words you typed. Keep a separate library for each subject, and read a book side by side with its translation.

How it works

  1. 01

    Bring sources

Books, PDFs, articles, recordings, or the news feeds on your beat.

  2. 02

    It reads once

People, organisations, places and events become entries, cited to the page.

  3. 03

    It keeps up

New material revises the entries and lands in tomorrow's brief.
